Teaching you at your pace

          The driving test

All the test routes will include a range of typical road and traffic conditions. It's very likely that during the course of your lessons you'll have driven around all or most of the routes.

In order to pass you must NOT commit a serious fault and must commit fewer than 15 driving errors of a less serious nature.

During your test the examiner will try to put you at ease, but may not speak to you too much - this is in order to avoid unnecessary distractions. You will be given clear instructions and directions. You will also be asked to carry out certain set exercises.

The test will last for approx 35 minutes and your examiner will be assessing the following:

  • Whether you are competent at controlling the car
  • Whether you are maintaining normal progress for the roads you are on
  • How you react to any hazards that occur in the course of the test
  • Wether you are noticing all traffic signs, signals and road markings and reacting to them in the correct manner.

Your test will also include two set exercises from either turning in the road, reversing around a corner, parallel parking, or bay parking.

The second set exercise will include a 10 minute independent drive, either following a series of directionas, traffic signs, or a combination of both.

You will also be asked two service related questions from a list of ninteen, these are cauld 'show me tell me' questions, you will be expected to know all ninteen questions.
